YKC Summer Camp 2021

Sunday 1 - Friday 6 August

YKC Summer Camp is back and it is the biggest event for Young Kennel Club members. It guarantees the whole family a summer holiday of fun so make sure you reserve your place by applying today. YKC Summer Camp will feature dog training for multiple disciplines and a social programme throughout the day and evening!

YKC Members

 

YKC members must be aged between 7-16 years old to take part in training.

YKC Members must attend with parent/guardian who will be onsite at all times, and the whole family is welcome.

Dates

 

Arrival onsite: Sunday 1 August (Camp opens at 12 midday)

Depart Site: Friday 6 August (Site closes at 12 midday)

DOGS

 

All dogs must be at least 6 months of age to participate in the dog training elements, with certain disciplines such as agility and heelwork to music requiring the dog to be at least one year old to take part. Dogs must be at least 4 months old to be on site.

QUESTION: My dog is 5½ months old, can it take part?

ANSWER: Unfortunately not, the hours of training across 4 days is a lot for a dog to take in. We require that all dogs be at least 6 months old to take part.

 

YKC Members

Cost

 

The price for attending the summer camp are as follows:

  • £110 five nights non-electric grass pitch, tent, trailer tent, caravan/campervan
  • £140 five nights for electric grass pitch, tent, trailer tent, caravan/campervan
  • £240 YKC Member (£25.00 Deposit must be made to secure a place)
  • YKC Member Sibling Discount 25% off if taking part in training and social programme

Pay your £25.00 deposit by: 30 April 2021

Camping

 

To ensure that members receive the most out of their stay, we expect all those attending to camp onsite. If there are extenuating circumstances, we will make exception in these instances but you would be required to source your own accommodation.

The YKC does not hire out any caravan or tent accommodation; Members and their families must supply their own caravan or tent.

All pitch sizes are 10m x 8m.

You are permitted to bring your own generators or you pay for electrical hook up. If you do provide your own generator, we will have curfew times at night when these will not be allowed to run.

Only members and accompanying family/guardians can stay onsite.

Venue Facilities

 

The Showground will access to the following facilities during your stay.

  • 24 hour toilet & shower block
  • Site camping area with drinking water points and outside sink with hot and cold water.
  • Washing up Area
  • Waste disposal suitable for caravans/motor homes.
  • Indoor areas: The Rutland Pavilion / Marquee / Clubhouse - fully licensed bar.
  • Electrical Charging points available
  • Hardstanding Carpark
  • Disabled access throughout the pavilion and including car parking.
  • Onsite catering Vans

Camping

 

Members and their families stay in their own caravan or tent

Pitches will be allocated upon arrival.

All pitch sizes are 10m x 8m.

Generators are permitted or you can pay for hook up.

Only members and accompanying family/guardians can stay onsite.

Family Fun

 

We will have onsite activities for family members to take part in: Daily Bingo, Puzzle Cafe, Adult Handling, 50 Points of a Dog Test, Dog Grooming, and Team Building Games more to be added! All family members are encouraged to come along to the social evenings and maybe even have your own team!

Dog Training & Education

 

Full day programme. Come along and join in with:
Agility
Handling
Obedience and Rally
Heelwork to Music
Scent Work
Fun games, trick training and a chance to take one of the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards.
We will also incorporate an Educational programme so you can rest your dogs but find out about all things canine – Dog Grooming and Dog Care, Dog First Aid and many more.

Team Time & Social

 

Members and their dogs spend so much of the day training that we try to give your dogs a break whilst you have team time. With eight Team leaders who are all volunteers and been involved with the YKC for many years. The social programme is an essential part of the camp experience, and we have some brilliant activities lined up, team building games, sports night, quiz night including some great family nights for everyone on site to get involved!
