Dog Agility

undefined

Dog agility is an action–packed and hugely exciting sport for you and your dog. It  involves loads of obstacles for your dog (not you!) to run through, jump over, and weave in and out of – and all against the clock! Not only does Agility test your dog’s fitness, you can also show off your skills as a handler, directing your dog around the agility course. If you have already been competing this year, you can click on the compete button below to see the year's YKC show results!

YKC Competitions

The YKC offer lots of different competitions in agility for members to compete in at our ring at Crufts. Some of the classes have qualifiers whereas others require members to gain points an standard Kennel Club licensced shows. The whole point of the YKC classes is to allow certain age ranges to compete against on another (6-11 ; 12-17 ; 18-24), which should level the playing field, as well as allowing members to make friends their own age.

INTERMEDIATE & LARGE HEIGHTS

CRUFTS 2020

At Crufts 2020, dogs who have qualified in 2019 as a large dog will be allowed to compete as a large dog at Crufts 2020 even if they have been measured into the newly created intermediate height category. Please note, this is a one-off exceptional case for Crufts 2020. Any dogs that have measured into the intermediate height category must compete at that height in every other kennel club licensed agility competition from 01/Jan/2020 onwards.

This ruling will apply to qualifier classes and agility warrant point entries (ABC / Graduate / 18-24 Years)

Qualifiers for Crufts 2021 will feature 4 heights across all YKC agility and Adult competitions therefore there is no reason to not get your dog measured into the new intermediate height.

Qualifier Classes

The classes below have specific qualifiers at various Kennel Club licensed shows throughout the year.

Agility Dog of the Year

Agility dog of the year is for members between the ages of 6-17 years and their dogs. Members compete in their own divisions for under and over 12 years, small, medium and large dogs and try to complete an agility course in the fastest time at a Young Kennel Club qualifying class.

Under 18 Years Jumping

The courses in this competition do not contain an “A” ramp, seesaw or dog walk. Open to members between the ages of 6-17 years and their dogs. Members compete in their own age divisions for under 12 and 12 years and over, and also only against their dog height: small, medium and large.

Pairs

The new YKC Pairs competition has replaced the YKC teams competition. The competition is designed to offer more co-operative teamwork than its predecessor. The pairs competition will be open to 3 age groups. YKC pairs will technically be 3 separate competitions, one for each height (small, medium and large) - only dogs of the same height can compete in a pair.

Points Based Classes

The following classes have a final in our YKC ring at Crufts. To get there, you must collect points at standard Kennel Club shows and submit them to us before the 1st of December each year. The 20 handlers with the most points qualify for the final.

ABC Agility (Anything but collie)

If you have a small, medium or large dog, you can send in your agility record book points (available from the online shop) to try and qualify for the different finals at Crufts. All record books must be sent in before 1st December each year along with the below application form.

18-24 Years Agility

If you are 18-24 years, you can send in your agility record book points (available from the online shop) to try and qualify for the senior agility Crufts final. All record books must be sent in before 1st December each year along with the below application form.

18-24 Years Jumping

If you are 18-24 years, you can send in your jumping record book points to try and qualify for the Crufts final. All record books must be sent in before 1st December each year along with the below application form.

It's a good idea read the Young Kennel Club Agility & Jumping rules before taking part in any YKC competitions.
