The Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award

We are looking for Young Kennel Club members who have accomplished something fantastic in the dog world to be nominated for the Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award. The Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award has been introduced by the Young Kennel Club to acknowledge the achievements and promote a positive image of young people within the dog world.  The Kennel Club wants to recognise and celebrate its young dog enthusiasts and the award will be presented annually at Crufts to a young person who has achieved something outstanding within the dog world.

Criteria

  • Between 6-24 years old
  • Three categories include Kids 6-11 years, Teens 12-16 years and Seniors 17-24 years
  • A member of the Young Kennel Club
  • Outstanding contribution or personal success within the world of dogs (please note that you don’t need to own a dog)

Who Can Nominate Me?

Members of the public, including parents, trainers, teachers, etc can nominate young people for the Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award.

How Do I Enter?

It’s easy to enter, you just need to nominate, fill in the form and send it in.  You can email the nomination form to ykc@thekennelclub.org.uk or you can post it to Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award, Young Kennel Club Team, The Kennel Club, 1-5 Clarges Street, Piccadilly, London W1J 8AB.

What Kind Of Achievements Can Be Nominated?

Anything and everything that you think warrants a young person to be applauded for their effort in upholding the aims of the Young Kennel Club and ensuring all dogs live healthy, happy lives.  Here are just a few examples:

  • Taking part in fundraising or raising awareness for dog charities.
  • Helping to organise a dog activity.
  • Helping others (training, stewarding, mentoring).
  • Success in competitions and training.
  • Volunteering (at dog training clubs, stewarding, shows).
