CAMP INFORMATION
What’s it all about?
The main aim of the week is to help members to get the best out of themselves and their dogs whilst having lots of fun. Each member has a training programme devised for them depending on their level of experience and what they want to gain from camp.
To help members get the most from camp we tailor the level of activities to ensure that no one feels out of their depth and we also look after them in small groups, giving members the individual attention and instruction they need.
YKC Member - Alex Duesbury reports about Camp
Camp is a fantastic opportunity, to not only develop skills with your dog in all disciplines, but also develop yourself as you create a stronger bond with your pet, and meet new people with exactly the same passion. The team activities are great fun, and brilliant confidence builders that can really change a person. Before I first went to camp I was nervous, especially about joining in with the team activities and whether everyone would be more experienced than me in dog training. National Training Camp encouraged me to come out of my shell, as it has done so many other people, and I needn't have worried about training as it is full of people of all ages and abilities. 2009 was my second time attending Camp, and was completely different to the first time. There were new activities, people, and my dog and I were more experienced than the last time, which gave us new challenges in the higher classes. When you get to Camp, you become so engrossed in the training and the team activities at night that you are never bored, and there is always someone on hand to help with anything - whether it be teaching your dog a new trick or making a costume for Talent Night. It introduces people to activities with their dog which they might never have tried before, whether you compete or not, have your own dog or not, you leave Camp wanting to do more with your dog, having learnt a great deal and having formed great new friendships. Hopefully someday I will be a trainer or leader at YKC Camp!
Do I need any experience?
No, we cater for members who have never tried anything with their dogs to those who have been competing for years and want to brush up on their skills. The trainers and team leaders will be there with you all the way to show you the ropes and don’t worry about being the only one who’s new – there will be loads of first time members with you.
The Team
Camp relies on the partnership between parents, members and our dedicated team of trainers and team leaders. The trainers and team leaders are there to look after you and make sure you have the most amazing time, but not only that, they are enthusiastic and love teaching members new things

Evenings are more fun packed than ever with our all-inclusive new and improved programme of entertainment. Each night includes activities such as games nights, discos, talent shows and outdoor events with your team.

With so much included in our camp and so much for members to get out of them, we’re more confident than ever that we offer incredible value for money.
