Education/Careers/Work Experience

The YKC invest heavily in ensuring that our members have the support that they need to help them to ensure their future in dog related activity.  Previously the Young Kennel Club has offered educational opportunities at its head office in London.

Careers with Dogs Day

For members aged between 14 and 24 years of age there is the chance to attend a ‘Careers with Dogs Day’.  The YKC members are the future of the world of dogs. They give up so much of their time to help out at events and put so much energy into dogs that we want to make sure they have all the knowledge available to them to help ensure their future in dogs.  The event aims to give YKC members the opportunity to attend talks and speak with professionals in a variety of canine fields.

The day usually ties in with the school half term, ensuring that as many members as possible can attend. The careers day will be hosted by the management team and will be held in the Kennel Club boardroom. Speakers will come from a variety of backgrounds and will aim to educate YKC members on all dog related jobs.  Previous speakers have been involved with:

  • Dog Photography
  • Grooming
  • Charitable Organisations (Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and Blue Cross)
  • Animal Shelters (Battersea Cats and Dogs Home)
  • Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses

The Young Kennel Club is pleased to announce that we will be hosting another of our popular Careers with Dogs Days at our London Head Office on Monday 26th October 2009.

This is a great opportunity for members between the ages of 14-24 years to attend talks within the various canine fields and also chat to the employees that work within these sectors.
