YKC to Pilot an Introduction to Judging Workshop

The Young Kennel Club (YKC) has developed an exciting new programme to help members learn the basics of judging dogs in breed competitions.

The Introduction to Judging Workshop is a pilot and is open to all YKC members aged 16 and over and will take place on Saturday 16th October at the Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh.

The day promises to be relaxed, informal yet interesting and informative and so the YKC ask that participants have little previous experience. Whilst there will be no qualifications on offer or shortcuts to judging there will be the opportunity to learn from the experts.

Participants will enjoy the unique experience of learning from Kathy Gorman and Crufts Chairman, Gerald King and there will be no shortage of handy tips and valuable information to learn.

Gerald King said: “I am pleased to be able to help the next generation of judges, it is really important we maintain a high standard at the same time as encouraging people to take up judging. I am looking forward to offering my experience and meeting the judges of tomorrow.”

 The programme will include
- Basics of a Dog by Kathy Gorman
- Ring Procedure & Presence by Gerald  King and Kathy Gorman
- Afternoon Practical, the chance to put the theory into practice.

Places to the Judging Workshop are limited and will be issued on first come first served basis. If you would like to apply to attend, please email the YKC office at ykc@thekennelclub.org.uk or contact 020 7518 1030 to register your details.
