I compete in Breed Showing & Junior Handling
Five years! well, that went really fast!!
Four English Cocker Spaniels, Jasper (Orange Roan), Louie (Blue Roan), Heidi (Gold), & my show boy, Charlie (Black)
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN/COMPETED WITH IN YOUR DISCIPLINE(S)?I sometimes compete in Junior Handling with Cocker Spaniels, Pointers, Hungarian Vizslas, Flatcoated Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Shetland Sheepdogs & basically any dog people give to me to handle.
I'm on hand for anyone needing a Handler for shows
The way they are so loyal & are always looking for trouble - well mine are anyway!
My favourite moment is,
just being in the YKC. Also, getting placed in qualifying classes at Activity Weekends
As well as helping me get to the point that i'm at with competing, it's also a great confidence booster & has definitely brought me out of my shell!
The opportunities they have given me are out of this world, including giving me the chance to learn other disciplines
Make the most of every opportunity you have with the YKC, whether it be
training or competitions. Get stuck in! And don't give up as there are plenty of people willing to help you
At the Richmond semi-finals 2010, only my second year, I was in the biggest class of the weekend, the Gundog Handling 12-16 years. There were forty five Juniors & Charlie & I got shortlisted twice, down to the final thirteen! Even though it took nearly two hours to Judge, i didn't give up, but my cheeks were aching for ages afterwards from smiling so much!!
They have all made a huge differece to all of our lives, I was petrified of dogs until we got Jasper! I would even run across a busy main road to get away from one.
Five or so years later & look at me now! We're at a Show at least once a weekend, nearly every week!
Up on the dartmoor moors when we go on holiday to Devon, we can spend ages up there & the dogs never get tired.
We love them for who or what they are & whatever they look like!
