HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A YKC MEMBER?

I've been a member for almost three years

I have two Border Terriers, Hazel & Bramble - who is Hazel's puppy born on 12th September 2010 (there were six in the litter with the others all having gone to nice new homes)

WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN/COMPETED WITH IN YOUR DISCIPLINE(S)?

I've shown Borders and my friends Cockapoos & Schnoodles. My Border, Hazel, has won almost sixty rosettes!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT DOGS?

They are amazing! They are always so loving and care about you no matter what!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN THE YKC?

When I qualified for Crufts by winning first place in the Grooming competition. Also, when I came 3rd in Heelwork to Music with Hazel! I used to attend the Brockenhurst weekend but I went to the Manchester qualifier weekend in January and it was great!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THE YKC?

They are great & supportive! I recently attended the Careers with Dogs Day and they were so kind and helpful

DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR YKC MEMBERS NEW TO THE WORLD OF DOGS?

Enjoy every moment with your dog, she will be your best friend no matter what, but it may take a while for YOU to realise it!

CAN YOU SHARE A FAVOURITE / FUNNY MEMORY OF YOUR DOG?

My favourite memory was when she had puppies on the 12th September 2010. It was such a lovely yet scary experience as Bramble, the first pup to be born, was not breathing, but she soon started to breathe and all of the other puppies are fine too!

HOW HAS YOUR DOG MADE A DIFFERENCE TO YOU OR YOUR FAMILY LIFE?

I always wanted to be a Vet but having Hazel has really pushed me that much further and now it's the only thing I ever want to be! I am completely obsessed by dogs and I know literally EVERY breed by heart. In my spare time all I ever do is train, walk, groom and play with Hazel! I also do Agility with her and my friend comes with us.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR DOG?

Across the road there are two enormous fields where I can walk her, we are also near the New Forest, lots of farms and the beaches - Hazel loves the sea!

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

Hazel and I are going to Discover Dogs for the Handling competition with my friend and we will also be at Crufts! Hazel knows over fifty tricks including leg weave, cry, beg, dead and she learnt how to walk backwards around me off by heart in ten minutes!

Bramble is only seven weeks old but already know sit, down, roll over, paw, wait & come! She is an amazing learner like her mum - watch out world there's another Hazel about!!!
