Lewes Show at Bentley Wildfowl

I always really enjoy Lewes Show as the weather is usually gorgeous and it’s about half an hour away from home. It’s such a laid back show and I also call it my lucky show as the old small dog I used to train (Barney) had a few wins at this show back in the day.

Todd still isn’t himself, he keeps doing really strange things! When I was living at home Todd was my shadow. He followed me everywhere, and I mean everywhere. He slept in my room at night, waited for me to come home, he even had to come in the bathroom with me when I had a shower! Now I’ve moved out I think he’s sulking, I can’t have dogs where I’m living now, we can have visiting dogs but not live-in ones! He comes round occasionally but when you’re living with other people you have to be careful that you’re not taking the mickey. Its not as if I’ve moved miles away, I’m literally about 5 mins walk away but its still taken its toll on mine and Todd’s relationship. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first but I think this is why he hasn’t been himself while he’s competing. Todd and I didn’t come away with any places today.

Lucky was doing some strange things today too, he missed his weave entry twice! First class he completely ran past them as if they were invisible and in his second class he entered them correctly but then popped out! Guess what I’ll be re-training on Wednesday at club!

So last class of the day - Medium 4-7 Jumping, it was a really tough course and there were some top handlers at the show today. Just before me was Toni Dawkins with her medium collie, I watched her go wrong in the difficult jumping combination of the course and I really thought I had no chance! I set Lucky up, took a deep breath and hoped for the best! We went clear! We got our weave entry! I couldn’t believe it! We came away with another lovely red rosette and trophy. We have already won into Grade 6 so unfortunately it didn’t progress us any further as we were still entered at the show as Grade 5. He was such a good boy and I was so so pleased with him!! So…cakes again on Wednesday!!! Poor Sonia, Lucky’s owner, will be fed up with making cakes soon! Blues 2nd training lesson tomorrow…wonder how we’ll get on!
