Introducing Georgina

Hello, and welcome to my blog, allow me to introduce myself; my name is Georgina Ferguson and I am seventeen years old. I have been junior handling seriously for about seven years, and I've been a member of the YKC ever since :).  I regularly compete in junior (and now adult) handling classes at open and championship shows.

My adventure began at Crufts, where this year I won the National Handling competition between Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. There were three age groups, 6-11, 12-16 and 17-25, as I was still sixteen years old at this point (my birthday is in April) I won the 12-16 age group with a Belgium Shepard dog called Dante, who I borrowed from a friend.
I was absolutely delighted to win and my excitement continued when I received a phone call, inviting me to represent Great Britain at the European show at Dublin on the 1st of June. Of course, I have to go! Mum and I have booked our flights, we’re leaving on the Sunday, and returning after the competition. As I will be in the middle of my As exams, we can’t take my normal handling dog Daisy, so I hope to borrow a dog when we arrive.

Training for the finals is a little difficult to fit in at the moment, with revision and learning to drive! However I will hopefully have some practise with my trainer and former YKC member Felicity Freer (Filly) in half term before we leave.

I’ll keep you updated on the latest news, as I count down to the show!
