Introducing Cat

Cat Harvey's Blog Next > Latest >>

Hello and welcome to my Blog. My name is Cat Harvey and I have been a YKC member for 12 years.  Wow that makes me sound old! I have grown up in the world of dog agility and went to my first agility show when I was just 6 weeks old!! I compete regularly across the country with my young border collie Todd and borrowed Shetland sheepdog, Lucky.

Heading to Crufts in 3 days, I can’t wait! After competing there for the last 8 years, this is the first year I’m not running, but I’m still as nervous as ever...this year I’m commentating!! Crufts is always a very busy time for me and my family as we all get involved. My mum and I work on the YKC Ring every year helping to organise the agility events, my dad is a commentator on the main Events ring and my brother is part of the main ring equipment team. I’ve commentated before but never at Crufts! So many things are running through my head, what if I lose my voice? What if I get a competitors name wrong?

The run-up weeks are always very busy in the Harvey household - we receive all the information on the competitors and dogs in the YKC Agility Events from the Kennel Club. We then produce all the score sheets, calling cards and change any amendments that crop up! Looking down the running orders I see lots of new names competing at Crufts for the first time! Good luck everyone!

So 3 days to go...we’re leaving on Wednesday morning in order to have rehearsals Wednesday afternoon...3 and a half hours of driving, rumour is that it’s supposed to SNOW too!

Will keep you updated over all 4 days at Crufts to let you know how I get on and also give you an insight into the biggest and best dog show in the world.
