Mid Downs is always my first show of the season and its always the most exciting. Although it’s nice to have free weekends in the winter, I just can’t wait to get back into it again come summer! My old boy, Barney, retired last season so I’m down to competing with just two this year, Todd (Border Collie) and Lucky (Shetland Sheepdog). Both boys ran really well, Lucky just picking up a few faults which were totally my fault, grrr! Seems I was still a bit rusty from the winter break! I was really chuffed with Toddster though, picking up two top 10 places and one elimination (my fault again!).
It was Blue’s (my 7 month old Sheltie) first time at a show and I don’t think he could quite believe how many dogs he could see. He coped really well with the noise and amount of people, I was really pleased with him. He loves agility and comes to every training session with me to watch, I can’t wait to start training him.
So all in all, not a bad start to the season…the agility circuit is such a friendly place. It was lovely to see old friends, new dogs, new hairstyles and partners…hehe! Such a gossip!
Next show is ESSC in April (strictly Shelties only!) so we’ll see how Lucky goes. I trained him last night at club and he was an absolute superstar…let’s hope he’s a good boy!!
