Writing this while feet are in foot-spa – BLISS!! If you haven’t been to Crufts before and are planning on coming next year…wear flat shoes!!
Today was SO busy!! The YKC Ring was full of activities today, Handling, Heelwork to Music, Agility, Dog for the Disabled Displays and much more!
The YKC Ring attracts so many members of the public, the sides of the ring were constantly brimming with onlookers and supporters.
The first agility event was the Large ABC Agility, this was a class for any breed of dog apart from collies. Collies are renowned for being the quickest and most agile breed for agility, so this final gave the breeds such as Kelpies, Dalmatians and Retrievers the chance to show what they’re really made of! Kathryn Norton came first with her crossbreed and Chloe Machon was second with her terveuren.
Today my family were given a special treat from the Kennel Club and were invited to the Patron’s Lounge for lunch. We had a lovely meal and it was nice to get my family together for lunch as it doesn’t happen very often at Crufts. We’re all off doing different things and hardly see each other till we get back to the hotel. I would like to thank the Kennel Club for the invitation, it was very much appreciated. Thank You.
The second agility event was the Senior Jumping, consisting of small, medium and large dogs handled by the older members of the YKC. All competitors showed great examples of control and experience and from what I heard from the viewers behind me, they were very impressed!! Lucy Osborne came first with an absolutely stunning round with her collie, Ben.
Next up was the Heelwork to Music Freestyle competition there were 6 competitors, under and over 12’s, all with great routines and showing great courage! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do that! Some dogs weren’t too sure of the noise and lights but the handlers did so well to encourage them and keep them going. The winner of the Under 12 competition was Erin Logie with her collie Ace, performing to the music from the Adams Family. They both did so well considering Erin’s first CD didn’t work so had to be swapped last minute to a slightly different version. The routine was still excellent and the public loved it! The winner of the Over 12 competition was Ashleigh Butler with her crossbreed, Pudsey. The routine was to the Egyptian Reggae (Sand Dance) and both Ashleigh and Pudsey gave a flawless performance!! Well done to both Erin and Ashleigh!!
YKC member Garry Lee was the star attraction in the Flyball Final in the Main Arena, when his team the Broxburn Bandits took the winning title, and he was ‘encouraged’ to show what was under his kilt!!!!!!
No famous person of the day today…must look harder tomorrow!!
