For those of you who are not able to own a dog but love them just the same. The Young Kennel Club has plenty for you to gain from being a member!
The Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person Award has been introduced by the Young Kennel Club to acknowledge the achievements and promote a positive image of young people within the dog world. The Kennel Club wants to recognise and celebrate its young dog enthusiasts and the award will be presented annually at Crufts to a young person who has achieved something outstanding within the dog world.
The YKC and the Cinnamon Trust have joined forces to
offer members the unique and rewarding opportunity to volunteer as dog walkers. Volunteers must be aged 16yrs+ for dog walking unless accompanied by an adult. So if you love dogs and are interested in giving up some time to help others, this could be the activity for you.
We are also friends with other dog organisations which mean we are able to offer our members the unique chance to go and find out more about their work and see and learn from the dogs. Members have been lucky enough to be given tours of Battersea Dog and Cats Home in London and Dogs for the Disabled centre in Banbury and we have lots more planned for the future.
Just because you don’t own a dog, doesn’t mean you can't take part in our fantastic ranges of workshops and seminars which can help you to brush up on skills ranging from judging to commentary. These take place at the Kennel Club in London and are a fantastic way to learn new skills and hopefully become more involved in the wonderful world of dogs as a result. And you can also have your say with our quarterly magazine - Fetch! sent out to all members.
