What can you and your dog do - the answer is just about anything. The choice of YKC activities, whatever your age and whatever your interest just keeps getting bigger with even more events and schemes in 2010 than ever before.
Basic training is part of being a good dog owner and our activity weekends cater for members of all ages from those who struggle to get their dog to sit to those who have been running up and down the agility A-Frame for years. To help members gain the most from the weekends and to bring out their best, we tailor the level of
activities to ensure that no one feels out of their depth. With a range of training sessions and competing opportunities available, our weekends are a great way to have fun with your dog and meet other young people.
For those members aged 8-16 years who want a little bit more there is only one event which will do, National Training Camp – our fun action packed week which is held in the summer each year. Members old and new love camp – they get the chance to try as many training classes as possible, have loads of fun during the social programme and learn new skills along the way. More importantly, the trainers and team leaders look after members in small groups, giving everyone the individual attention and instruc
tion they need. There is never a dull moment – day or night.
If you are interested in competing, the YKC has a whole range of incentives to encourage and reward members who work with their dogs reguarly. Dog clubs and shows all over the UK host qualifiers so those who are more serious about their sport can try their luck at qualifying for the finals held in the YKC ring at Crufts.
With activity weekends, visits to dog organisations, the chance to compete at Crufts, and development within the dog world, there’s fun and opportunities for all ages and levels which provide a boost for both members and dogs alike.
