Discover Dogs

Discover Dogs 2010, organised by the Kennel Club, will be returning to Earls Court 1 on 13 and 14 November. Sponsored by Royal Canin, the event is now in its 15th year and is the biggest dog event in London, welcoming over 26,000 visitors and 3,000 dogs over the two days of the show.

The event provides a fantastic and unique opportunity for visitors to meet, greet and discover over 200 different breeds of dog. Key themes for the show are education and fun.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “Discover Dogs is a unique platform to celebrate dogs in our society and educate dog lovers about the many different breeds of pedigree dog. It is not only an opportunity for dog lovers to find their perfect breed, but also to find out about the many fun events and activities they can take part in with dogs and how they can be a responsible dog owner.”

“Once again, the Kennel Club will be welcoming children under 12 into the doggy extravaganza for free, making this a day out that the whole family can enjoy.”

Discover Dogs has firmly established itself as London’s premier dog event. It provides dog lovers with the chance to not only meet hundreds of dogs over the course of their visit, but also to talk to owners and breed experts. Visitors can also find out about everything from health to training, and agility to grooming by attending one of the many free displays and seminars at the show.

Dog ownership comes with plenty of responsibility and Discover Dogs hopes to teach the fundamentals in a fun and engaging way. The four show rings will be packed full with exciting doggie displays and competitions for pedigree, crossbred and mixed breed dogs alike. Highlights will include the exciting Rescue Dog Agility competition and the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year, which will take place on Saturday 13 November. Scruffts heats are held across the length and breadth of the country during the year and the final will be judged by a celebrity judge, to be announced nearer the time. There will also be the Companion Dog Club competition, open to all club members.

For pedigree dog lovers the semi-finals of the coveted Kennel Gazette Junior Warrant Winner of the Year competition take place, with the successful entrants going on to the final at dfs Crufts in March 2011.

Dogs from all walks of life will be present, from those that work as Pets as Therapy and assistance dogs, to Metropolitan Police dogs - all displaying their fantastic, often life saving talents. There is also the opportunity to engage in some serious retail therapy with over 100 trade stands selling just about everything you can think of for you and your canine companion.
