The 120th annual ‘Greatest Dog Show In The World’ bounded its way into the NEC in Birmingham for the opening day of dfs Crufts 2010.
Thursday 11 March
We had a fantastic first day at the show... the ring programme went to plan and the senior members in charge of the ring did a fantastic job. Kennel Club President HRH Prince Michael of Kent visited the Young Kennel Club ring area and spoke to our Chairman Valerie Foss, the Vice Chairman Pat Dufty, the Management Team and Senior Member Phil Slade about all the brilliant activities for YKC members.

Day Two and the YKC ring was crammed full of competitions throughout the day. With something for everyone we welcomed competitors in Obedience, Jumping, Handling and Breed.
Frankie Evans and her Working Sheepdog, Scally, took to the ring to collect the prestigious Rebecca Pointer Trophy which is presented each year at dfs Crufts to the YKC member who has achieved the most with their dog in the wonderful world of Obedience.
Away from the ring, the YKC stand had another fantastic day. We welomed lots of new members to the YKC and our new merchadise was flying off the shelves.
Saturday 13 March
Day Three - Toy & Utility - began with the flyball competition & awards were given out in the ring including the John MacDougall award & the Cinnamon Trust Volunteer Award.
Sunday 14 March
Day Four saw many presentations being hosted in the ring including the Shaun McAlpine Award being given with Chelsea Hickford picked as the overall winner.
The YKC were also pleased to celebrate our Silver Jubilee Anniversary with a parade in the YKC ring with members old & new taking part and were delighted to welcome Lady Kirkham into the ring to cut the cake.
The YKC programme ended with the Stakes final being held in the main arena with the Stakes winner's trophy for 2010 being awarded to Amelia Siddle and her Pointer, Wilchrimane Black Ice, with Kirsty MIller and her Papillon, Feorlig Versace being placed runner up.
A huge well done to all competitors that took part over the four days and a massive thank you once again to all of our senior members that ran the stand and ring over the four days for their hard work and dedication to the Young Kennel Club.
