All the Good Citizen Dog Scheme clubs are child friendly, and are the best place to train your dog in basic obedience, so he's ready to take part in all of the different canine activities the Young Kennel Club offers.
Dog owners of any fitness level, any age or any disability wanting to train their dog can take part. Training classes are available for all dogs from all walks of life: pedigrees, crossbreeds and rescue dogs are all welcomed. No dog is too old to learn, and no member too young!
Everyone in the family should take part in the training activities, as it will really help you develop that special bond with your furry friend.
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest dog training scheme in the UK, which aims to promote responsible dog ownership by teaching owners to train their dogs for everyday life situations and, in turn, enhance their relationship with their pet and to make the community aware of the benefits associated with dog ownership.
The dog training scheme is broken down into four categories; Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. The scheme is non-competitive and emphasis is placed on the standard of achievement.
Good Citizen Dog training clubs run weekly dog training classes and tests. If you want to start training your dog or puppy for a Good Citizen Dog Scheme Award, or any other activity, then you will find a very useful list of local dog training clubs here.
The Young Kennel Club teaches you how to train your dog in all of the doggy activities, such as agility and junior handling, whatever level you are at, so join today to get started with us! Check out our events calendar for dog training near you.
