The Young Kennel Club grooming is split into two different class types. If you qualify for the final then you must groom the same breed that you groomed at the qualifier, this is so that you can show off all of the skills you displayed at the Grooming heat. Take a look at the Young Kennel Club Grooming rules before taking part in any competitions.
When you would like to start competing in Grooming competitions, you can try and qualify for the Groomer of the Year Crufts final by entering one of our groomer of the year qualifiers during the year which can be found below. We have two different classes for our members, both split into different age groups.
Our groom through class is for members to show the understanding and skill required to remove all dead hair and tangles from the dog’s coat, also checking teeth, ears and nails. This is the perfect class for members just starting out in grooming competitions.
Our clip/trim & strip class is for members to show skills in coat removal by stripping, trimming and/or clipping the coat, along with general health care.
