Jumping

What is Jumping?

Jumping is a form of dog competition, where the animal's fitness and the handler's ability to train and direct the dog over and through certain obstacles are tested.  These do not contain a ramp, see saw or dog walk.

Can any dog take part?

Jumping is open to all dogs so your dog does not have to be a pedigree, or pure-bred dog to take part, but it must be registered with the Kennel Club on either the Breed Register or the Activity Register.

If you decide that Jumping is a suitable activity for you and your dog, your next step is to receive some expert training, for a list of local training clubs, call 0870 606 6750, ext. 212.

How do I go about competing?

You can apply for an Jumping Certificate by gaining a placed clear round at any Kennel Club licensed jumping shows.  If you send this certificate application into the YKC office you will receive a certificate, badge and automatic invite to the YKC Jumping Semi Final.
