NAMEAmy Scott-Dyson
Fordingbridge, New Forest, Hampshire
We have our own business in pet services, walking & boarding & I am also a Dog Groomer, and I will also be starting Agility in the New Year.
I've been a member of the YKC for about two years, I wish I knew about it earlier as this is my last year!
Four dogs - a white Maltese x Mastiff, a tan Working Cocker Spaniel and two of their pups! One is white & wooly & the other is tan coloured & short haired!
We have show all of our dogs in companion competitions at local shows, the wooly white at Discover Dogs companion dog club in 2009 (which he is entered in again this year) and i'm competing with him in the YKC Grooming Competition too!
They're fun, happy, loyal & easy going. They are also fun to interact with
& it always makes me smile when they are having fun!
When I got my badge! I haven't done too much with the YKC yet so i'm sure the Grooming Competition at Discover Dogs will be my most memorable!
Being a part of something I enjoy and being in the know on all things doggie!
Make the most of it, if
you have the opportunity to take part in something within the YKC take it! Or before you know it you'll be twenty five and won't be able to!
When we had a litter, teaching our dogs as it's great when they finally get it! (shut the door is a very rewarding one!) When we discovered two of our dogs could climb ladders (we never encouraged it!) When we caught the eldest drinking from the toilet & taking Embry to Discover Dogs.
We never get bored anymore! There's always something to do with them & I really look forward competing in the future as they have definitely helped my progression in grooming.
We have also seen some beautiful places that we may not have discovered if it weren't for taking them to different places, I may not have the amazing business I have now if I didn't have my dogs.
Walking the dogs is a brilliant excuse to aimlessly wander in lovely places. I love to take them to places they really enjoy so it's great that we live on the edge of the New Forest as they get to have a great walk everyday and ,as I am dog walker, they get to have friends on their walk too!
I am nervous about the Groomer of the Year Qualifier Competition at Discover Dogs! Even though I am a married, grown woman now I still wish I could be a part of the YKC for longer, but sadly this is my last opportunity. (You can become an ex-member volunteer when your membership finishes Amy!)
