The Young Kennel Club is the club for kids who love dogs, helping children learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends. We welcome ANYONE between the ages of 6 years right up to 24 years! So for JUST £15 you can get a year FULL of canine adventures when you join our club. Whether you own a pedigree, crossbreed or just LOVE dogs!

North East Dog Lovers Invited To Young Kennel Club Spring Weekend

Young dog lovers in the North East are being given a unique opportunity to boost their canine training skills and attend a fun dog training weekend organised by the Young Kennel Club (YKC) in Wearside.
Young people aged 6-24 and their dogs are invited to the YKC Spring Weekend being held at The Dog House in Cold Hesledon near Seaham on 26th-27th April to try out a range of dog activities and they can come along for just one day or for the full weekend.

What can kids and their dogs do at camp? The answer is....everything! With dog training fun during the day, individually tailored to each child, your child and their dog can be complete beginners or more experienced in canine activities to attend.

Peterborough YKC Member Honoured at Crufts

11 year old Ryan Ross from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire was named as the Shaun McAlpine Outstanding Young Person of the Year at Crufts 2014.

A total of fifteen Young Kennel Club members were nominated for the prestigious award which celebrates the hardworking, inspirational and selfless actions of young dog lovers. Each nominee was recognised as their individual stories impressed judges and audiences alike, but it was Ryan’s story that shone through.

Crufts 2014 Best In Show: Ricky, The Poodle

Four momentous days of Crufts culminated in an exciting final as Ricky (Ch/Am Ch Afterglow Maverick Sabre), a Standard Poodle from Preston, Lancashire, was named as the 2014 Crufts champion this evening.

Ricky, aged two and handler, Jason Lynn were awarded the prestigious Crufts Best in Show trophy in front of thousands who turned up to the NEC Arena in Birmingham and millions more watching live on Channel 4 and online around the world and live on Channel 4, presented by Clare Balding. Just seven dogs competed for the Best in Show title at Crufts 2014 from over 21,000 who took part over the course of the four day event. Best in Show judge, Jack Bispham faced a difficult decision choosing between the seven different breeds: the Standard Poodle, Rottweiler, Samoyed, Irish Wolfhound, Wire Fox Terrier, Pomeranian, and American Cocker Spaniel.

Artist Of The Year Winners To Be Presented At Crufts

The Young Kennel Club has announced the winners of its sixth annual Young Kennel Club Artist of the Year competition, which will be presented at the world's greatest dog event, Crufts 2014.

The annual art competition run by the Young Kennel Club (YKC) has seen a bumper entry, with members' creativity and talent clearly inspired by this year's theme, 'Dogs on Holiday'.

The winning images will be on display in the YKC area in Hall 3 at Crufts from March 6th- 9that the NEC, Birmingham.
