The Young Kennel Club is the club for kids who love dogs, helping children learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends. We welcome ANYONE between the ages of 6 years right up to 24 years! So for JUST £15 you can get a year FULL of canine adventures when you join our club. Whether you own a pedigree, crossbreed or just LOVE dogs!

Kennel Club work experience placements in London or Aylesbury

The Kennel Club is looking for enthusiastic, bright and energetic Young Kennel Club members interested in a work experience placement during the summer months.
If you are 16 years old and over, we would like to hear from you. Placements are unpaid and can last for a few days up to a maximum of one month. The Kennel Club will contribute towards your travel costs.  Deadline for applications is 28 May 2015.

Crufts 2015 Handling Critique

The Junior Handling Critique for Crufts 2015 is now available. Please click here to download your copy. If you are interested in competing in Handling, junior handling qualifiers are held across the country throughout the year and you can download a list of YKC handling qualifiers for details of clubs that hold classes which qualify members for the YKC ring final at Crufts.

Scottish Kennel Club Groomer of the Year Heat

A YKC Groomer of the Year qualifying heat is to be held at Dundee Canine Club in conjunction with the Scottish Kennel Club on 6th June and you can get your entry form here.

The Competition will take place at 08.30am. Entry for the Grooming qualifier must be made on the official entry form and returned to the YKC office, NOT Dundee Canine Club.

Handling Training Day - Saturday 13th June

Hosted by Helena Hutchings-Brooks and Lisa Moir, our new the training day is an opportunity for YKC members to train under excellent supervision and guidance. The programme for the day will include activities such as Ring Etiquette and Showmanship presentation, Skills assessment, Basic control and Pattern work, Presentation, Stance and teeth work, Advance (training) patterns and will end with a fun competition.

Agility Training Event - 26th April 2015

Our brand new Agility Training Event is open to all Young Kennel Club members as well as spectators and will be hosted by two well decorated trainers, Nicola Wildman, Alan Wildman and for the first time we are pleased to have collaboration with Canine Physiotherapist, Gail Baker Dip ICAT, MCAM, RCH, going through a range of canine techniques including warm up, warm down and conditioning routines with members.
